What is Motability?

Motability is a UK charity that provides mobility solutions for people with disabilities. If this applies to you, you can exchange your government-funded mobility allowance for a new car. The scheme offers a wide range of vehicles, including insurance, maintenance and breakdown cover, all included in the package.

Am I eligible for Motability?

Am I eligible for Motability?

To be eligible for the Motability Scheme, you must receive one of the following disability allowances:

• Enhanced rate mobility part of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
• Higher rate mobility part of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
• War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
• Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

If you’re in receipt of one of the aforementioned allowances and it has at least 12 months of its award remaining, you can apply for one of our Motability vehicles. Our dedicated Motability team is here to assist you in understanding your eligibility and guide you through your application.

Can my Motability vehicle be adapted?

Yes, your Motability vehicle can be adapted to suit your specific requirements. Indeed, we offer various modification options, such as hand controls, wheelchair hoists, swivel seats and steering aids. These adaptations help to make driving and travelling more comfortable and accessible. Most adaptations can be arranged at the start of your lease and are often included in your Motability package at no extra cost. Our team will work with you to ensure your vehicle meets all your mobility needs, ensuring you enjoy enhanced freedom and convenience.​

Are electric cars available on Motability?

Yes, we offer a wide selection of 100% electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid vehicles on the scheme. Electrified cars provide numerous advantages, including lower running costs, eco-friendliness and a smooth, quiet driving experience.

Furthermore, if you choose an all-electric car on Motability, you’re entitled to receive the free installation of a standard home chargepoint. If this isn’t viable at your location, we’ll instead provide you with access to the bp pulse network of more than 9,000 public chargepoints.
